  1. A St Bernard is a breed of large, heavily 
  2. built DOG, named after the monks of Grand St 
  3. Bernard Hospice, Switzerland, who kept them 
  4. for finding lost travellers in the Alps and 
  5. to act as guides. They are 70cm (30inches 
  6. high at the shoulder), and weigh about 70kg 
  7. (154lb).
